What To Do When Your Choice to “Miss Out” Was the Right Decision

October 26, 2018 By Caroline TeSelle

My favorite day of the year happened last weekend and we weren’t there. Nest Fest. It’s when our friends, Chad & Myquillyn Smith open their homestead to 1000 people to celebrate home, handmade, writing, good food, and banjo music. It’s also the culmination of all the work that’s been done over the past six to …read more

Better Than Yesterday

February 17, 2017 By Caroline TeSelle

On February 22nd, Greg and I will celebrate 20 years of marriage. Twenty. Add to that the years of friendship before we got married – I’ve known my best friend for 33 years. Twenty years ago, if you would have told me that we would have four kids, moved 10 times, experienced several job changes, …read more

Light

February 10, 2017 By Caroline TeSelle

A few nights ago I had this crazy dream that I was stuck on a curvy mountain road at night. Up ahead there was a blind curve to the left and every time I tried to get around, an ambulance would fly around the bend coming from the other direction. I woke up in a …read more

Restlessness Uncovered

August 15, 2016 By Caroline TeSelle

In spite of all our sense of uncleanness, in spite of all our rush and interest in the work of the world, and in spite of all our logic, the implicit sense of God will come and disturb our peace. ~ Oswald Chambers Peace has always been attached to a place for me. The ocean. …read more

Instagram post 2176424357067718093_997468 Yesterday, I moved a chair here to sit in the sun because winter has arrived and I chase the sun around my house to keep warm, like a cat.

Today, I’m sitting here to keep an eye on my bird feeder and scare away the squirrels!

Hi, my name is Caroline and I’m 80 years old.🐈 🐿 👵🏼
Instagram post 2171981553767774781_997468 God can turn any situation into a new beginning.

It may require humility, grace, forgiveness, a steady hand of endurance—or a combination of all the above.

The end result? Hope.

⁣
I’m not going to share any spoilers but I couldn’t get this scene and these words out of my mind after watching it this week. (No surprise that the scene took place in a cemetery, one of my favorite places to wander). ⁣
⁣
Any type of pain is unwanted but it can be a powerful teacher if we allow it. The perseverance that it takes to endure pain yields beauty in our character & hope for tomorrow. ⁣
⁣
The pain that I have endured in life is nothing compared to others that I know who experience excruciating pain on a daily basis. Let’s come alongside each other, pray together, and show up for those in our community who need some encouragement & compassion as they persevere.
Instagram post 2159120406874109900_997468 We are back home from Nest Fest and we needed to take a walk around the block to stay awake—it’s only 4:15! 🤣 It was such an amazing day and I only had the presence of mind to take 2 photos! Just search #thenestfest feed and check out all the great pics!⁣
⁣
The community that @thenester and @chadsmithis have built around Nest Fest goes beyond just the day of, it’s one big family and I’m honored to be a tiny part of it!

The real stars of the day? Our volunteers! (I tagged as many as I could). THANK YOU! 🤩❤️

Instagram post 2145158870165940367_997468 "Oh God, you are my God, and I will ever praise you. I will seek you in the morning and I will learn to walk in your ways. Step by step you’ll lead me, and I will follow you all of my days.”

For some reason, this Rich Mullins song that I haven't sung (sang? 🤦🏼‍♀️) in 20+ years stuck in my heart and mind this morning as I sat down to have some focused prayer & writing time. I positioned my chair, facing the window, journal in lap, pen in hand and I started singing.

As I started to pray and write, I came to the realization that over the past few years, I have allowed life circumstances to steal my joy. Every day, I pray with a thankful heart but I have lost my joyful praise.

Some heart work needs to take place and I realize this is not an overnight fix but I cannot stop thinking about it now. That's how God works when we set aside the time to listen, his words come in a song, a thought, a borrowed prayer, his Word, a sunrise or sunset...thank him, and ever praise him.
