Truth : When was the last time you cried?

greg says_1

I last cried on Sunday, October 12th around 10:15pm

Caroline and I went to see the world premiere musical of  “Amazing Grace” at the Bank of America Theater in Chicago.  It’s the story of John Newton… the man who wrote the famous song in 1772.  I won’t tell you all the details of the musical, just know it is a powerful story of redemption of one of Christianity’s most powerful conversions.  Pick up the book “Out of the Depths” for a good read.

If you know me very well… you know I have two favorite songs…

Amazing Grace
The Star Spangled Banner

Both songs bring tears to my eyes… especially when children sing them.  But on Oct 12th… when a host of professional actors and actresses sing all 5 verses of Amazing Grace… it’s was overwhelming.  Amazing words… from a guy with an amazing story.  #tears

I also cried during the Amazing Grace musical a few weeks ago. It was SO good. If it comes to your area, it is a must see!

Before that, the last time I cried was while I was writing about the one thing I regret for Day 3 of this series.

While I was thinking about my Grandmother Pete & the memories surrounding that weekend, putting those thoughts to words for you to read, brought tears to my eyes.

When was the last time you cried?

I cry easily. Only after the birth of my child has this started to happen. Who knows why! So the last time I cried was last night watching the TV show The Voice. It can be embarrassing at times. But the tears are usually happy tears of joy.

WAYNE CRIED WHEN HE SAW PICTURE OF GUNNAR WITH APPARATUS ON HIS KNEE. HE FELT HIS PAIN AND FRUSTRATION. REMINDED HIM OF HIS INJURY IN 10th GRADE WHICH ENDED HIS HOPES OF PLAYING IN THE FUTURE EVEN THE MAJOR LEAGUE. SO PLEASED GUNNAR’S INJURY WASN’T
AS SERIOUS AS IT COULD HAVE BEEN.
Gwen SAYS : SHE AND WAYNE WILL BE CELEBRATING THEIR 50th ANNIVERSARY THIS MONTH. WE HAVE BEEN SEARCHING THROUGH PHOTO ALBUMS & SHOE BOXES TO MAKE A COLLAGE. NOW WITH 50+ YEARS AGO YOU CAN NOT IMAGINE HOW MANY PHOTOS BRING BACK MEMORIES AND BRING ON THE TEARS. SOME HAPPY SOME SAD. TRAILS OF TEARS WITH NO RETURNS AND FUTURE TRAILS OF HAPPY TEARS WITH NEW BEGINNINGS. ESPECIALLY WHEN I SEE THE FACES OF NEWBORN GRANDCHILDREN WHICH RANGE IN AGES FROM 7 to 16. YES! LOOKING BACK LETS ME KNOW THAT THE FUTURE WILL ALLOW ME TO ANTICIPATE TEARS OF JOY. IF THE SAD TRAIL OF TEARS ARISE I WILL HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE PREPARED. SO THE NEXT FEW DAYS LEFT IN OCTOBER WE ARE LOOKING FOWARD TO MAKING ALL NEW MEMORIES FILLED WITH HAPPY TEARS AND PICTURES TO SHARE.

Four days ago, I quoted the comforting words of @s Four days ago, I quoted the comforting words of @shellymillerwriter as I was contemplating the past three weeks of healing for Eden’s hip surgery. ⁣
⁣
Shelly passed away on Sunday night. Please click over to her profile and read her husband’s words about her passing...“As we grieve, we do so with hope.”⁣
⁣
Today, as I drive northwest to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for another round of follow-up appointments, Shelly’s words continue to be a balm to my soul...⁣
⁣
“When all the ways in which we find our identity have been stripped away, we stand like barren branches in a posture of surrender awaiting God’s next move.⁣
⁣
“Our purpose is to glorify God, not by doing more for him but simply being with him; trusting God rather than trusting in circumstances lining up.⁣
⁣
“Our greatest certainty in life is God’s presence and help.”⁣
⁣
I’m clinging to that certainty today. Thank you, Shelly. Rest well.
“It is when we are at rest that we hear the voic “It is when we are at rest that we hear the voice of God echoing over our worry.” @shellymillerwriter⁣
⁣
The echoes of God have been loud and clear during the past three weeks since Eden’s surgery. The echoes of prayers. The echoes of friendship. The echoes of healing. Worry has not held a place here and we are extremely thankful. 💛
