The following was written by my husband, Greg, with an explanation of our word of the year: Whoa.
I’ve never been very big on resolutions… I’m more of a “goal” kinda guy.
Every year Caroline and I take a week or two to evaluate our lives, and declare what our next year will be about as well as set a few goals. We actually like to “label” our year in advance instead of allowing the year to “label” our lives instead. For example…
In 2014 we are declaring it to be “The Year of Whoa”
Just as in past years, it is a discovery process of exactly what “The Year of Whoa ” is going to be… but regardless of what 2014 brings, we will learn and write about things that will cause us to say “WHOA”. We are hoping that these “whoa moments” will create a closer relationship with God, each other, our family, friends, neighbors, etc.
Webster’s Dictionary defines whoa this way…
1) a command (as to a draft animal) to stand still
2) cease or slow a course of action or line of thought
3) pause to consider or reconsider
4) a term used to express a strong reaction (as alarm or astonishment)
So based on the definition of whoa… 2014 has the potential to be quite exciting (both for good and bad)… so we look forward to sharing life things that fall under the “whoa” category.
