Silence.
I LOVE silence.
I crave silence.
When you live with 5 other people in a house where every {979 square foot} inch of your house is utilized to the max, you learn to find spaces for silence.
Sometimes the chaos of life drowns out the silence surrounding you…but only if you allow that to happen.
Do you know what I’ve learned about silence from nature? The trees & flowers are surrounded by the chaotic & loud world just as we are. They somehow manage to grow. Sure they need healthy soil, water & sun. So do we. The difference is that they do not let the chaos & the loud keep them from growing. They find ways to drown it out and manage to silently grow.
I want to encourage you that whatever season of life you are swimming in right now, you can embrace the silence. You need to, or your growth will falter, your flowers will wither quickly & your fruit will not ripen. You can always find those moments of silence, those moments to cling to the warmness of the sun, to allow the roots of your life to strengthen & grow.
Our family has recently entered into a new season where I have time during each day to embrace the silence. When my kids were younger, the only time of silence I had was when I took a shower. Parents with small children know what I’m talking about.
No matter what season or life event you are facing right now, you can find a moment to embrace the silence.

I love silence too and that is why I absolutely love the early morning hours in my house. It is when I hear The Lord’s voice the best for sure. Unfortunately, sometimes the silence is drowned out by my own thoughts about what others are thinking of me. This is something I am desperate to change so that God’s thoughts about me can be heard loud and clear! Looking forward to this month!

I love this. Media is a big silence killer for me. Also? People pleasing. I often say yes, yes, yes and don’t leave room for quiet times in my day.

Silence. It is good. I have to agree that I don’t allow it as much as I should and sometimes even run from it. Which is strange since I’ve prayed for it the last 6 years while the kids were home, and now… Again, God says to me, “Be still and know that I am God.” Thanks for these thoughts Caroline!

my crazy brain drowns out my silence a lot of the time. I need to practice silencing my brain so I can really enjoy the silence.

finding what works for you will make a big difference. for me it’s listening to instrumental music or journaling or a walk around the block. something to make me focus on quieting my mind & heart. xoxo

I do a lot more shushing and hiding on the front porch or the back porch for a few minutes of silence these days. I used to be the loud one, the talker. Now I see how annoying that can be. Shhhh.
