31 Days of Rest & Risk :: Day 6 ~ Sit Quietly

Is it hard for you to sit quietly & reflect?

It requires discipline and self control when the distractions are loud.

Guess what?  The distractions will always be there but if you look and listen close enough, the refreshing dew is there as well.

Has there been any refreshing dew from the first 6 days of Rest & Risk that you would like to share with us?

  1. Oh, my goodness…it *is* difficult! Those distractions are so tempting…and I’m so aware that I need to hear God, to actually *hear* Him. Sometimes, I wish I could hear Him the way Adam and Eve could actually “hear”, instead of just looking for reflections of His kindness in people, and traces of His mercy in hindsight…

    I would love to be revitalized by the Almighty, but a personal question for you: How do YOU do it? How does the discipline form? How do you sit quietly? What are you listening for/ waiting for when you sit quietly? Maybe this questions indicates that I am even too busy in thinking/ searching while I try to sit and rest…

    • Sarah – Right now, it means grabbing my camera, a book & a journal and find some time to take pictures, write & read. Sometimes it’s having lunch with a friend. Sometimes it’s going for a drive. Or listening to music. I think the seasons of life we go through dictates how we sit quietly. When my kids were infants/toddlers there was not a lot of time to sit quietly! Now, I have 2 hours a day when all of my kids are in school. It’s up to me how I choose to use that time.
