As I mentioned on Day 8, Greg helped me plan my dream. He also did this {girls weekend} & this {beach weekends} & this {Joon} & this {helicopter}.
Greg is an AMAZING gift giver, right? Giving the gift of REST & RISK is one of his passions. He can take any experience & turn it into a spiritual lesson. I have been on the receiving end of plenty of those teaching moments but he has also provided countless opportunities for students & adults to experience this gift on trips he has led across the US called Road Rules.
Take some time to read through some of the things he has done on those trips. At first glance, most of them look like risks – hangliding, driving a tank, wrestling an alligator; but there were also opportunities to rest.
As a spouse or a parent or a friend, how are you at giving the gift of rest & risk? Angela and her spouse understand the benefits. She is one of the most creative people I know & her creativity is encouraged through rest.
Greg and I make a good team. We give each other the gift of rest and risk. We know the benefits of both & it has strengthened our marriage. Since he is a natural risk taker, I can tell when he needs to rest and give him permission to do what he needs to do. Currently, the way he rests is by working on Bert.
As I mentioned above, Greg gave me the gift of risk earlier this year when he surprised me with a Groupon gift to fly a helicopter, a life-long dream for me. How is giving the gift of riding in a helicopter rest? Flying a helicopter is a RISK but I was so surprised at how calm it made me feel to be in that cockpit.
Love your spouse? Child? Friend? Neighbor?
Encourage them with a gift of REST or RISK this week. The results may surprise you.
