Quietember Update

My body is rejecting quiet!

7 days into Quietember my body decided to go wacky. Weird feelings in my arms, fatigue & dizziness. As a mother of 4 I know what fatigue feels like & this was a different feeling. I went to the doctor and all of my blood work came back normal {which is great!} but I’m still feeling a little bit off so I have another appointment with a doctor today. I will keep you posted. Maybe this is what happens when you turn 40???

How’s the rest of Quietember going?

* I like my coffee black – but the flavor has to be mild. I’ve also noticed I only need 1-2 cups instead of the usual “finish the entire pot of coffee because it’s already made and I don’t want to waste it” 10 cups of coffee. My Keurig has helped too. One cup at a time.

* I am reading more books. I finished The House at Riverton & loved it! The author, Kate Morton, has a few more books published that I am going to request from my library. I also downloaded Anna Karenina {it’s free in iBooks!} after I saw this trailer! Keira Knightley, Jude Law & Matthew Macfadyen. Yes, please! I read this book in high school {um, 24 years ago} so a re-read is necessary.

* I have missed Instagram but I have noticed that I’m taking more pictures with Nanney {my Nikon D100} and the pictures that I have taken with my iPhone aren’t already filled with a caption in mind. Do you know what I mean? When I’m taking a picture, in the back of my mind I’m thinking about a witty caption for Instagram. Who am I kidding? I’m not witty. Oh, I take that back. I’m witty tomorrow. I will think of the witty thing to say 24 hours later. Time-delayed wittiness. That’s me.

* I have NOT missed waking up to a ton of notifications on my iPhone screen. It has been soooo nice to click the button just to check the time or to turn off my alarm. I think when Quietember is over, I will keep the notifications set to OFF. If there’s an emergency, call me.

* Because of the weird fatigue & dizziness I have not exercised as planned. I hope to get some answers so I can at least walk around the block and get some fresh air.

* I wrote a few letters. I love to sit down and focus on writing to ONE person or family. My favorite person to write lately – Elizabeth. Isn’t she adorable? She is the little girl in Tanzania that we sponsor through Compassion International. We received our first letter from her a few weeks ago and it was lovely to get a glimpse into her world. She is 7 years old and loves to play handball and hide & seek. She also loves to sing! She has become a part of our family and we pray for her everyday. Here’s why we decided to sponsor Elizabeth. Have you considered sponsoring a child through Compassion? It will change their world AND yours!

Thanks for stopping by! How was your first week of September??

  1. Oh no! So sorry to hear about your dizziness and stuff. Yuck! I’ll definetely be praying for you.

I’m so glad things are going well with “quietemeber”.

    Love you!

  2. hi! wanted you to know you’ve inspired me, am in my 7th day of not being everyone’s burden keeper and this body is not rejecting a thing! It feels great! Thank you!
About the body and the forty~ it’s hard to say this to you, but have your hormones checked…the big M, that’s how it started for me, followed by heart palpitations for no reason what so ever. I removed dairy from my diet, cut back on caffeine and made an effort to rest more, it helps a great deal.
    Praying for you :)

    • that’s great viv! i know you are a good friend to sooo many so i’m sure it’s hard to not take on the burden at times. prayer has a way of releasing those burdens, doesn’t it?

i have a feeling that the big M might be the problem…silly hormones. thanks for the prayers friend!

  3. I blame everything on seasonal allergies. But I will pray for a much more clear diagnosis for you!

  4. Caroline
Glad to hear that you are enjoying some quiet time! Just maybe excersise was not suppose to be a part of your restful month. Time to just exhale without pressure to even workout. I will be praying for you and hoping that you feel better soon. Love and miss you my friend!
