Three Breakfasts & a Lunch

Summer break has come to an end and we’ve entered a new era in our household :: all 4 are in school. 2 in elementary school & 2 in middle school.

Eden is the most excited because she started kindergarten {it’s 1/2 day here} yesterday. The older boys are a little less enthusiastic, but I’m encouraging them to keep their murmurs to a minimum around their sister.

I bet you’re thinking, “What are you going to do with all of your free time now with all 4 kids in school?”

Well, let me break it down for you:

6:15 am :: Wake up. Make sure Gunnar & Tygar are awake. Breakfast #1. Have a cup of coffee.
6:55 am :: Gunnar and Tygar leave for school via carpool.
7:35 am :: Wake up Stone. Breakfast #2. Have a cup of coffee.
8:05 am :: Stone leaves for school via bus.
8:30 am :: Eden wakes up. Breakfast #3. Have a cup of coffee.
9:00 am – 12:30 pm :: Hang with Eden. Lunch.
12:30 pm :: Eden leaves for school via bus.

2 HOUR BREAK

2:30 pm :: Pick up Gunnar and Tygar from school.
3:45 pm :: Eden & Stone come home.

Did you see that? All that “free” time is just 2 hours a day. That’s less “free” time than what I had when my kids were in preschool. So, don’t start rejoicing or mourning for me yet.

Just so you know, I do not plan on eating 3 breakfasts, but I will be enjoying a cup of coffee each time…something has to keep me awake during that 2 hour break. {big grin} During the infant & toddler years at this household I used to joke that when all my kids were finally in school I would sleep. Those infant & toddler years can take a toll on your sleeping habits. A 2 hour nap everyday does sound nice…

Honestly, I haven’t figured out my plan yet. Once we get going with this new routine, I’ll set a plan for the week.

Here are the thoughts rolling through my mind:

clean, menu plan & grocery shop, read, write, bake, have lunch with a friend, work, exercise {especially if I eat 3 breakfasts & a lunch everyday, ha!}, knit {I’m way behind on my hexipuffs}, take Joon & Nanney {my camera} on adventures, create…

It will probably be a combination of all of those. I do want to be intentional with my time and not waste it away.

If you had 2 hours a day, what would you do?

Comments

  1. i think at this point i would say…sleep. :) i am still in those early years you described!

  2. oh my! i would do something for yourself at least for 30 minutes of the 2 hours, if not more:)

  3. With a whole two hours I would nap for an hour and read for an hour..I try to do this a few times a week as I still make all my littles rest from 1-3 daily. It’s for their health AND mine!
